Discover why we love Rank Math vs Yoast SEO. These are two of the most popular WordPress SEO plug-ins. You’ll find countless other articles comparing the two, so I’m just going to give you my personal take on which one I prefer and why.

There is no blanket answer as to which SEO plugin you should use, I have my personal favourite. In the below post I have compared Rank Math to Yoast to show you the difference between these two WordPress plug-ins.

We’ll review each separately to understand how they function and then compare them simultaneously to see which one is better.

Yoast SEO

Deployed by more than five million WordPress websites, Yoast SEO is the most commonly used SEO plug-in. It has been on the market for as long as ten years and available in both a free and premium version.

Yoast SEO has a team of SEO experts, architects, developers, and testers that work cohesively to improve the plug-in with every release. Whether you are a business owner, content creator, developer, or a blogger, you can benefit from it.

Some of the core features of this plug-in are:

  • The SEO and Readability analysis
  • Snippet preview for mobile and desktop
  • Control over the website’s breadcrumbs
  • Paid Features include:
  • Social previews
  • Article optimization for key phrases and synonyms
  • Internal linking suggestions that too automatically
  • Insights tool for keyword and phrases

Rank Math

This is another plug-in for SEO that has established an excellent reputation in the shortest time based on its features and functionality. Some aspects worthy of mentioning are:

  • Easy to use and follow the setup wizard
  • Modular framework
  • Simple and clean user interface
  • Excellent support
  • Lightweight and optimized for speed
  • It bulk-edit descriptions and titles for all of your content

Put simply, it is a revolutionary SEO plug-in featuring a combination of different SEO tools in one package and helps you attract and multiply your web traffic.

Now let’s compare both WordPress SEO plug-ins to understand better how each plug-in works and outperforms the other.

Configuration

The first interaction that you have with a plug-in is when setting it up. Thus, the configuration can make a huge difference. So, when we compared both plug-ins for configuration, here’s what we found out:

Yoast SEO plug-in set up is an eight setup process. It’s the actual length as compared to Rank Math, thus time-consuming. When configuring Yoast plug-in to your site’s landscape, you have to focus on all the necessary settings like organization type, site type, author option, search engine visibility, and more. However, what we like about it is that it is embedded with a free video guide that provides instructions and guidance to the users about the process set up. This is helpful for those deploying a plug-in for the first time.

On the other hand, Rank Math configuration is five steps and a speedy configuration process. What we love about it is that it is simple and straightforward. There is nothing technical about it. All you have to do is follow the five steps and install it. It’s as easy as it can be.

Moreover, the set up is also clean in design. The five installation steps include the site name, search console, sitemaps, optimization, and it is ready to be installed. Apart from that, once configured, you can automate some of the SEO tasks such as redirecting attachment pages and external links.

User Interface

Now let us discuss the user interface of both SEO plug-ins. When we assessed the user interface of Yoast SEO, we observed that it is more functional than aesthetics. And do you know what this means? It means that although it may not be visually appealing, it can get everything done with all the options both neatly and in an organized manner. However, we’d like to highlight here that the user interface is slightly bland. It could have been better.

In comparison, Rank Math is a clean dashboard. It allows you to quickly and smoothly turn on and off the features of Rank Math one at a time. Every element is displayed in a separate box, which makes it easy to navigate through. Also, they have short descriptions under them with the status tab. So, you can easily read about the feature and decide whether you want them active or inactive. When you turn on a feature, it turns green. Overall, the dashboard is visually appealing and very modern, thereby delivering the ultimate user experience. So, Rank Math scores high on user-interface, in our opinion.

Keyword Optimization

The next factor that we’d like to focus on is the optimization of the keywords. This is indeed a crucial factor and a vital aspect of search engine optimization. In general, this feature enables you to populate keywords, write meta title with description, create permalink, and select the content’s focus keyword.

From our analysis of both plug-ins, we think Yoast SEO and Rank Math are on par at this one. Both SEO plug-ins are equally competitive when it comes to keyword assigning. But please note that Yoast free version only allows users to optimize one keyword or phrase. So, if you are looking to optimize keywords than one, then the premium version is a good option between the two. This is because Yoast premium allows you to optimize many keywords, phrases, related keywords, word forms, and synonyms. The possibilities are endless; thus, you can optimize multiple keywords as needed with no limitation.

Furthermore, Yoast represents content optimization in colored signals such as green, orange, and red and gives users the ability to analyze the readability and SEO score and Google page preview. Wait, there’s more! It also gives users the flexibility to assess it in different languages like English, German, French, and Spanish.

Similarly, Rank Math also offers keyword optimization. But unlike Yoast SEO, it doesn’t let you assign more than five keywords. However, the good thing is that you can optimize keywords for free. So, you don’t have to pay it like Yoast premium version.

Besides this, the meta title, description, and the setup of permalink work the same as Yoast. And you can also see the preview of the Google page.

Another aspect of keyword optimization that makes Yoast SEO and Rank Math different is the display. Rank Math shows the score from 0 to 100. To get the best results, you must continue to optimize content until it reaches 80 and above. Once you reach 80, it will turn green in color. In contrast, Yoast’s content optimization level is displayed as green, red, and orange signals.

However, before we move on to the next aspect, we’d like to mention that Rank Math also suggests keywords. If you need suggestions, all you have to do is type the keyword in the textbox, and it will start to show and advise you focus keywords that might help you for search engine optimization purposes.

Rank Math vs Yoast

Integration of XML sitemap

An XML sitemap allows search engines to easily navigate the site content, thereby giving you a list of all the content in a machine-readable format. This is not like the regular sitemap, which is visible to the website visitors. With XML sitemap, you can rest assured that Google will quickly discover it, and the content will get indexed, which means better ranking and more search engine visibility.

If this got you wondering which plug-in offers this amazing feature well, then the answer to it is both of them. Rank Math and Yoast both can generate the XML sitemap of the site, and that too automatically. Please note that the sitemap’s URL will be different, but that doesn’t impact the website. Also, in both the plug-ins, you have the flexibility to create a custom sitemap.

Pricing

So, we have already mentioned that Yoast is available in both free and premium versions. This means that you can set it up for free at zero charges or invest in the premium version for better functions and features. But how does it compare to Rank Math in terms of pricing let’s find out..

As Rank Math is relatively new to the landscape, right now, it is available for free. All you have to do is set it up and start using it. There is no cost or expense associated with Rank Math SEO plug-in as of now. We say this because it is feature-rich and highly-functional; hence it can go in the premium version in the months to come. So, now is the best time to take advantage of it, especially if you’re looking for a free SEO plug-in with full-fledge features at zero cost. It can’t get better than this.

If we were to rate both plug-ins in terms of pricing, we think Rank Math is, hands down a better option because it is loaded with features and, at the same time, is available for free. While you can access the same features on Yoast SEO plug-in premium but you will have to pay for it while the free version comes with many limitations and doesn’t have all the features.

Performance

In terms of performance, Rank Math takes the lead once again. It is fast, lightweight, and well-coded. Although Yoast SEO new feature indexable is quite impressive as it allows you to improve site performance and make it fast, it doesn’t beat Rank Math. Here’s why:

Rank Math consists of 32 lines of code, while Yoast SEO has 95.8K. Besides this, Rank Math is built on the PHP FIG Coding standard, but Yoast SEO plug-in isn’t. It means that Rank Math is safer, secure, scalable, and more efficient performance-wise than Yoast SEO plug-in.

Rank Math also offers full schema support, thereby enabling you to create rich snippets for better performance.

Integration of Google Search Console

The integration of Google Search Console is a powerhouse and value-added feature worthy of mentioning in this review. This feature allows users to spot and identify technical and complex SEO issues in WordPress.

Although both plug-ins offer this feature, rankmath is a better option. This is because you can easily set up a search console with Rank Math by verifying it with your Gmail account during the configuration process. In other words, you don’t need more time to integrate this feature. Once verified, it will fetch search console data in your WordPress dashboard, which can be viewed easily.

On the other hand, Yoast SEO enables you to integrate the search console, but unlike Rank Math, you don’t get the interface that you need to search console records directly.

Rank Math vs Yoast – The Final Verdict

We think both plug-ins are functional and rich in features, but Rank Math is a powerhouse and our favourite. It provides the best foundation for on-page SEO. In addition to this, Rank Math is easier to use, faster, and more intuitive than Yoast. And it doesn’t slow the speed of the site either. Rank Math is not only better but it’s also absolutely free. Yoast Premium is accessible for $89+ annually.

Rank Math is may be new to the market but it can most certainly deliver the results and performance that users need to ensure they show up in search engines and get their business noticed.
